Palmer E. Whitlock, 90, of Evening Shade, Ark., died Jan. 19, 2004, at Eastern Ozarks Regional Health System in Cherokee Village.
Born Oct. 4, 1913, at Evening Shade, he was the son of Marcus L. and Jennie Duncan Whitlock. He was the owner/operator of Whitlock Shoes in Union City, Mich., for many years before retiring to Evening Shade.
He was a Mason, served in the U.S. Navy for four years, and was a member of Piney Fork Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Rogers Whitlock, of the home; a son, Keith Whitlock of Union City, Mich.; a daughter, Gail Whitlock of Battle Creek, Mich.; five grandchildren -- Kerri Peck of Homer, Mich., Raymond Marcus Whitlock of Reno, Nev., Paul E. Whitlock of Union City, Chris Peterson of Girad, Mich., and Betsy Halferty of Columbia City, Ind.; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Bobby Whitlock.
The funeral was Jan . 22 at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Jack Richard-son officiating. Burial followed in Evening Shade Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City, Ark.
Pallbearers were Buel Wilkes, Dowl Thomas, Ronnie Qualls, Robert Yager, Tom Qualls, Eugene Heath, Paul Whitlock and Raymond Whitlock.
Honorary pallbearers were Calvin Lindsey, Eddie Farris, Junie Smith, Frank Riley and Fran LePlante.
