Born 11-29-1921 -- Died 1-14-2004

Alex Adams, son of the late William Code Adams and Lear Clark Adams, was born Nov. 29, 1921, in Caraway, Ark., and died Jan. 14, 2004, in West Plains, Mo., at the age of 82 years.

He was united in marriage to Lois Manes who preceded him in death Dec. 24, 2003.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country 21 years with 16 of those years being spent overseas. He was later employed by Texas Instruments in Dallas, for 20 years.

Survivors include two daughters -- Shirley Landers of Indianapolis, Ind., and Myrna Newton and husband, Jerry, of Mammoth Spring, Ark.; six grandchildren -- Sheree Kim Denton, Darlene Okey, Johnny Springfield, Jeffery Landers, Laura Elizabeth Hart and Billie Sue Hepler; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters -- Mary Miller of Tula, La., and Imogene Sullivan of Neelyville, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, William Adams and a sister, Lorene Moore.

The funeral service was Jan. 18 at Camp United Methodist Church at Camp, Ark., with Terry Sager officiating. Burial was in Camp Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer, Mo.

Military rites were presented by members the United States Military of Fort Sill, Okla., and pallbearers were members of the military.
