Sam Douglas, 82, of Hoxie, Ark., formerly of Ash Flat, died Jan. 22, 2004, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born July 6, 1921, at Nelsonville, Ark., he was the son of Will and Eunissa Walling Douglas. He was a farmer and a member of the Ash Flat Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Dula Douglas of the home; two sons -- Darrell Douglas and Harrell Douglas, both of Hoxie; a daughter, Glenda Zeller, of Hollister, Mo.; two sisters -- Edna Sawyers of Hoxie, and Lois Porter of Batesville; two grandsons -- Ricky Douglas of Paragould, and Paul Douglas of Cabot; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers -- Dennis Douglas and Carlos Douglas; and an infant sister.
The funeral was Jan. 24 at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Ken Ward officiating. Burial followed in Penn Cemetery at Strawberry, with arrangements under the direction of Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Bob Douglas, Fred Douglas, Joe T. Douglas, Paul Porter, Hershel Sawyers and Leonard Sawyers.
