Richard Dewane Wallace, 63, of Mammoth Spring, Ark., son of the late William Wallace and Alberta Jewell Spiller Thompson was born Oct. 6, 1940, in Detroit, Mich. He died Jan. 18, 2004, at Salem, Ark.
He spent his working years as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a truck driver. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include is wife, Barbara Wallace of Mammoth Spring; four sons -- Bobby Elkins of El Dorado, Kan., James Elkins of Wellington, Kan., Britton Elkins and wife, Brenda, of Cartersville, Ga., and Mark Elkins and wife, Mary, of Lehigh, Kan.; five daughters -- Missy Wallace of Nacogdoches, Texas, Mickey Buchanan and husband, Tommy, of Mammoth Spring, Annette Brown and husband, Dennis, of Alvin, Texas, Sandra Fuller and husband, Richard, of Houston, Texas, and Susan Wallace of Georgia; a sister, Zona Sutton, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark.; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, "Adopted" step-father, Buster "Papa" Thompson, a son, Denly Dewane Wallace; two daughters -- Desiree Susan Wallace and Brenda Diane Denham; and a brother, William Clyde Wallace.
A memorial service was Jan. 21 at the family home in Mammoth Spring with Michael Joe Kearse officiating. Arrange-ments were by Barker Funeral Home of Salem.
