Dispatcher trainee charged in theft

OREGON COUNTY -- An Alton man was arrested last week on an Oregon County warrant charging him with stealing from the sheriff's office; an Alton warrant also charging him with stealing.

Jason M. Losey, 20, was arrested Feb. 2.

The arrests stem from an incident in which $159 was stolen from a purse in a home in Alton Jan. 31 and another $125 was stolen Feb. 2 from the sheriff's department. Losey was being trained as a dispatcher in the sheriff's office.

He is being held in the Oregon County jail with a bond set at $3,000.

William Ogden, 45, of Thayer was arrested last week by Alton City Police on an Oregon County charge of misdeamenor failure to register as a sex offender. He posted $2,000 and is scheduled to be in court Feb. 18.

James L. McQuire, 61, of Alton was arrested last week on a Nodaway County warrant charging him with felony non-support. He posted a $7,500 bail and is to be in court Feb. 24 in Nodaway County.

Carol J. Newman, 40, of Marionville, Mo. was arrested last week on an Oregon County warrant for passing bad checks. She posted a $1,000 bail and is to be in court Feb. 18.

Damien M. Wilson, 22, of Phoenix was arrested two weeks ago in Oregon County on a probation violation.

He was in Oregon County court last week where he appeared before Associated Circuit Judge Jo Beth Prewitt who sentenced him to 14 days in the Oregon County jail at Alton.
