Natural Adventures comes to Alton

Thursday, February 12, 2004

ALTON -- Twelve Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) areas full of recreational opportunities for the whole family within a two-hour drive of Springfield can be explored in a new MDC video now available at the Alton Public Library.

According to Alton librarian Janice Richardson, "Natural Adventures Close to Home" is the third video in a series highlighting opportunities on conservation lands near urban cities in Missouri. The first two highlighted areas are near St. Louis and Kansas City. From hiking and hunting to fishing and floating, Richardson said Oregon County residents can enjoy breathtaking scenery of each area as well as learn about the sights and activities available to plan an enjoyable day trip. She said it takes only a library card to check out this and other MDC videos at any public library throughout the state.

The Alton Public Library hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
