Lois Elizabeth Utley Hlavas, homemaker, died Oct. 23, 2005, at Shady Oaks Healthcare in Thayer at the age of 90 years.
She was born April 16, 1915, in Hardy, to William and Drucilla Smith James.
She was married in Hardy in 1929 to Owen Utley who preceded her in death March 24, 1945, while serving his country during World War II. She was married in Salem, Ark., in 1952, to George Hlavas who preceded her in death in 1983.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mammoth Spring.
Survivors include six children, Edward Utley and wife, Pat, of Highland, Ark., Lewis Utley and wife, Dorothy, of Jonesboro, Ark., Orace Utley and wife, Ruth, of Mesquite, Texas, Barbara Mathis and husband, Jerry, of Hardy, Carl Utley and wife, Joanne of Houston, Texas and John Utley and wife, Brenda of West Plains, Mo.; 22 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held Oct. 26 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer with Bro. Floyd Rikard officiating.
Burial followed at the Baker Cemetery located near Hardy. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Carter Funeral Home Inc. of Thayer, Mo.
Pallbearers included Doug Mathis, Danny Utley, Doug Utley, Anthony Utley, Timmy Utley, Marcus Utley, Rickey Utley, Doug Utley, David Utley, Doug Utley, and Gene Utley.
