Residents along the Spring River are familiar with the river rising when heavy rains fall.
In excess of 10 inches of rain fell in the Spring River area March 18 and 19 and some people who thought they could ride out the rising water as they have before, decided maybe they couldn't.
Officers with Arkansas Game and Fish, the Mammoth Spring Fire Department, Fulton County Deputy Johnny Byler, Sharp County officers and members of the Sharp County VFD conducted a water rescue at Saddler Falls March 18.
According to Hardy Director of Public Safety Ernie Rose, an unidentified woman and a teenage boy as well as Jim Davis, were rescued by boat from cabins near the Saddler Falls area around 2:30 p.m.
Sharp County Water Rescue Team members Steve Garner and Jason Griffen made the actual rescue from a boat.
Arkansas Game and Fish Commission officer Gary Mullins said his department put a boat in at Spring River Oaks to assist in the rescue.
The officers said all three of the people rescued had seen the river rise before and did not think they were in danger. He said water was up to the cabins when the rescue team arrived.
No one was injured.
