Tuesday, November 20, 2007

First National Banking Company was one of 11 organizations and one individual recognized by the Governor's Quality Award Program for performance excellence during the 13th Annual Awards Celebration at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock. More than 250 businesses and civic leaders from throughout Arkansas attended the celebration.

The awards ceremony included four award levels of performance excellence (in descending order of qualifications): the Governor's Quality Award, the Achievement Award, the Commitment Award and the "Challenge Award.

First National Banking Company (FNBC) received the Challenge Award.

The goal of the Governor's Quality Award Program is to encourage Arkansas organizations to engage in continuous quality improvement, which leads to performance excellence and to provide significant recognition to those organizations. The Governor's Quality Award Program was created as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating learning opportunities that foster the application of continuous quality improvement principles in 1994. The program uses the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award as a basis for the Arkansas process. This process combines the advantages of using the most current, comprehensive, and widely accepted criteria available to assess progress toward long-term improvement of the organization. Criteria for performance excellence fall into seven key areas: leadership; strategic planning; customer and market focus; measurement, analysis and knowledge management; workforce focus; process management and results.

FNBC, with assets of $375 million, is headquartered in Ash Flat, with 10 other locations in Batesville, Cherokee Village, Hardy, Highland, Horseshoe Bend, Mammoth Spring, Melbourne, Mountain Home, Salem and Wal-Mart SuperCenter in Ash Flat.
