Tuesday, November 20, 2007

OREGON COUNTY -- An Alton woman, Lana Clair Parker, 57, has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to drive on the right side of the roadway in an accident that occurred Oct. 5.

Officer Michael Hargus with Troop G of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said that Parker was driving a 1997 Buick when the vehicle struck a corner post and damaged 100 feet of cable fence and 20 feet of field fence on County Road 102. The damaged property was owned by Nelson Simpson of Alton.

Matthew Don Martin, 23, from Lenior City, Tenn., was charged with driving while intoxicated Sept. 9.

Officer Hargus said he stopped a 1996 Ford Ranger on Highway 63 driven by Martin for exceeding the posted speed limit, failing to give a proper turn signal and for weaving excessively.

Hargus said after completing the standard field sobriety test he placed Martin under arrest and transported him to the Thayer Police Station. The officer said Martin had a blood alcohol content of .192 percent. In Missouri a person is considered drunk when they register .08.
