Michael Ray Sanders, of Viola, son of the late William Madison Sanders and Mary Belle Knight Sanders, was born Feb. 15, 1953, in Kansas City, Mo. He died Nov. 14, 2007, at St. John's Medical Center in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 54.

He worked in highway construction for many years before becoming disabled.

He enjoyed baseball, hunting and fishing, but his greatest love was country music.

He attended services at the Viola Assembly of God.

He is survived by: three brothers, Billy Sanders and wife Gail of Copperas Cove, Texas, James Sanders of Gassville, Ark., and Bobby Sanders and Kathy Cochran of Gepp; three sisters, Carolyn Dailey and husband Boyd of Viola, Marilyn Fountain and husband Dale of Salem and Beverly Sanders of Viola; six nephews; seven nieces; seven great-nephews; five great-nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his father and mother; and his grandparents, Homer and Daisy Holstine Knight and Ernest Sanders and Grace Roberts Sanders Stone.

Graveside services were held Nov. 20 at the Viola Cemetery at Viola, Ark., with arrangements being made under the direction of the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
