THAYER -- A two-vehicle accident in Thayer sent two men to area hospitals Sept. 4.
According to Thayer Police Chief Frank Bernard, the power was out in the city and the stop light was not working at the intersection of Highway 63 and 142 East. A 2004 Dodge truck driven by Scott E. Smith, 18, of Mammoth Spring was in the left turn lane, turning south onto Highway 63 when he pulled into the path of a 1995 Dodge truck driven by James Sparks, 54, of Coffeeville, Miss.
Smith was transported to St. John's Hospital in Springfield and Sparks was taken to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains where he was treated and released. Smith's condition was not known.
Bernard said Smith was ticketed for careless and wreckless driving.
