Woman falls from car; has serious injuries

ALTON --An Alton woman, Esther Burmingham, received serious injuries Dec. 11 when she fell off the hood of a 1996 Oldsmobile she was riding on and was ran over.

According to law enforcement officials, Burmingham, 45, was ran over by her mother, Wilma Burmingham, 78, also of Alton.

The two were traveling on Oregon County Road 413, a gravel road, six miles north of Alton.

Officers said they did not know why the younger woman was riding on the hood of the car.

She was transported to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains for treatment and later transferred to St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

No charges were filed in the accident.

A one vehicle accident Dec. 12 in Shannon County left an Alton resident with serious injuries.

According to law enforcement authorities, Sheri Boehmer, 39, lost control of her vehicle, ran off the right side of the road and struck a tree. Boehmer was not injured in the accident.

A passenger in her vehicle, Rena Ford, 36, also from Alton was taken to St. John's Hospital in Springfield.

The accident occurred on Route T, 10 miles south of Mountain View in Shannon County.
