THAYER -- The Thayer City Council met in regular session Sept. 18 at Thayer City Hall. The council approved a request from Bullseye Convenience Store for a liquor license for Cox Oil Company.
They also approved a request from Thayer resident Jim Hart to set off fireworks at Thayer High School Homecoming activities.
Thayer Municipal Airport Manager Bill Martin was at the meeting and discussed how the airport could become more profitable.
Martin told the council that money could be made at the airport by selling fuel.
"Across the country most smaller airports are selling fuel, self service. Fly in here, slap a credit card and fill it up," Martin told the council.
The council is looking into the idea of having fuel available at the airport although no decision was made at the meeting.
The council also discussed changing city employee work hours. They decided to table the issue until they could meet with each city department head.
