Rodney Gene Johnson, 36, of Mount Vernon, Mo., was born June 17, 1971, in Tulsa, Okla., the son of Frank Johnson and Loviena Johnson. He died Sept. 21, 2007, at his home.
Johnson was a 1990 graduate of the Alton High School and was employed by Drury University where he was named employee of the month in 2006. He also had his own custodial business, which he took great pride in.
Survivors include: his wife, Dee Johnson; and a daughter, Melissa Chesmore, both of the home in Mount Vernon; his mother, Loviena Johnson Strain of Alton; a brother, Ronald Johnson and wife Donna of Columbia, S.C.; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Roberta Johnson; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Preceeding him in death was: his father, Frank Johnson; and his stepfather, Hubert Strain; grandparents, Cleo and Violet Johnson, Mack and Hettie Warren and Vallie Strain.
Funeral services were held Sept. 27 at the Clary Chapel with Bro. Darrin Hensley officiating. Interment followed in the Smith Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Alton.
