OREGON COUNTY -- An Alton man, Stephen O. Hastings, was arrested by officers with the Oregon County Sheriff's Department last week and charged with domestic assault.
The Oregon County Prosecuting Attorney's Office said Hastings caused physical injury to Jennifer Parrot by grabbing her neck and throwing her to the ground, breaking her finger.
Hastings and Parrot live together. The incident occurred on Turner Road in Oregon County. Parrot was taken by ambulance to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains where she was treated and released.
Hastings posted a $4,900 bond and is scheduled to be in court later this month for arraignment.
In other local arrests, Alton City Police officers and Oregon County officers responded to a disturbance near Leon's Bar on the court square in Alton. Kyle D. Tillman, 17, of Alton was in a vehicle parked near the bar. Officers had reason to believe Tillman was hiding something in his left hand because he kept it cupped. The officers ordered to open his hand and when he did not an officer opened it and found a small plastic bag with white powder in it. A field test showed the powder tested positive as methamphetamine.
Tillman was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. He posted a $4,900 bond and is set to be in court later this month for arraignment.
