Virginia Ruth Hobbs, 70, of Thayer, Mo., died July 3, 2005, in Thayer after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 7, 1934, in Stone County, Mo., the daughter of Edith Pruitt Thomas and the late Charles H. Thomas.
She was united in marriage Sept. 23, 1949, in Thayer, Mo. to Lloyd Hobbs.
She was a homemaker and was employed by Puritan Fashions in Thayer for many years. She was a long-time and active member of Midway Pentecostal Church in Thayer. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed by her family and friends.
Survivors include her husband, Lloyd of the home in Thayer; her son, Randal Hobbs and wife, Linda, of Thayer; two granddaughters -- Rhonda Blum and husband, Rich of Eureka, Mo. and Gayla Olbricht and husband, Josh, of West Lafayette, Ind.; one great-grandson, Garrett Blum of Eureka, Mo.; her mother, Edith Cruse of Thayer; a sister, Norma Thomas of Vandalia, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Irene McCutchen and husband, Charles, of Thayer; three nephews -- Boyd McCutchen and wife, Cheryl of Gladstone Mo.; Duane McCutchen and wife, Teresa of Ozark, Mo., and Mike McCutchen and wife, Shirley of Thayer; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles H. Thomas.
The funeral was July 6 at Carter Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Barnett and Rev. Don Tabor officiating. Burial was in the Thayer Cemetery with arrangements by Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
