Zora Estes Brown, of Horseshoe Bend, was born Oct. 13, 1906, in Agnos, Ark., daughter of the late John Matthew and Dora Agnes Hall Estes. She died July 7, 2005, at Salem at the age of 98 years.

She was united in marriage to William Edward Brown Oct. 26, 1924 in Ash Flat, Ark., and to this union 12 children were born. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and a homemaker. She was a member of the Oxford Baptist Church.

Survivors include six sons -- Drexel Brown (Ruby) of Little Rock, Glen Brown of Mountain Home, Bill Brown (Mary Sue) of Beebe, Ark., Norman Brown (Barbara) of Greenbriar, Ark., Anthony Brown (Sharilu) of Salem, and Larry Brown (Donna) of Salem; six daughters -- Lola Brown of Camino, Calif., Ima Lou Moss (Herbert) of Oxford, Jo Ann Yancey (Cleo) of Steelville, Mo., Johniece Merwin of Littleton, Colo., Sharon Watson (Lee) of Melbourne and Linda Hutchins of Searcy; one brother, Calvin Estes (Cherry) of Mountain Home; three sisters -- Fern Brown of Aptos, Calif., Launita Southard of Melbourne and Betty Benton (Ford) of Glencoe, Ark.; 32 grandchildren -- Scott Brown, Nancy Gottula, Debbie Wild, Carolyn Whisenant, Beth Strong, Greg Moss, Robert Brown, Tonya Brown, David Brown, Melissa Brown, Kenny Brown, Tina Brinkley, Terri Livesay, Tammy Livesay, Taleta Diaz, Sandra Brown, Phillip Brown, Carla Smith, Marty Brown, Monty Brown, Joni Merwin, Brad Merwin, Michelle Smith, Jamie Kimes, Tony Watson, Brandi Watson, Sarah Brown, Lindsey Brown, Joe Brown, Cammie Brashers, Kyla Sheffield and Perry Hutchins; 46 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Brown; parents; two sisters -- Beulah Cotton and Lillian Tucker; two grandchildren -- Kevin Brown and Timmy Brown; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held July 10 at Salem First Baptist Church with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Interment was in the Bates Cemetery in Horseshoe Bend, Ark., with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.

Pallbearers were her grandsons.

Memorials are preferred to the Bates Cemetery Association, American Red Cross or a charity of one's choice.
