Kerwinn will spend one year in jail

THAYER -- A Thayer man, Adam James Kerwinn, has been sentenced to one year in an Arkansas regional correction facility for felony theft.

Kerwin, 21, was sentenced June 12 in Fulton County Circuit Court by Judge Tim Weaver.

Kerwin was convicted of stealing a 1998 Ford Taurus from Keith's Garage in Mammoth Spring.

On April 29, 2002, Keith's Garage, located on Tate Avenue, reported a 1989 Toyota van stolen from the garage parking lot. The van was located in Thayer after it had been wrecked.

Keith's Garage also reported several sets of keys had been stolen, including the keys to a 1998 Ford Taurus that was also parked at the garage.

On April 30, 2002, the 1998 Taurus was stolen from the garage parking lot. A short time later officers with the Thayer Police Department recovered the vehicle after it had been wreked while its driver attempted to flee from officers. Kerwin was driving the Taurus.

Kerwin was in possession of several sets of car keys that had been stolen from Keith's Garage.
