William Linson

William Franklin Linson, 95, died July 8, 2006, at Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains.

He was born April 9, 1911, in Thayer, the son of the late Albert Linson and Mary Goodwin Linson.

He was united in marriage Oct. 17, 1934, in Salem, Ark., to Tressa M. Edwards who preceded him in death on April 19, 1976. He was united in marriage Aug. 6, 1983, in Thayer to Augusta Robinson.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country during World War II. He was a retired truck driver and attended the Assembly of God church in Thayer.

He is survived by his wife Augusta of the home in Thayer; one son, Bill Linson and wife Beverly of West Plains; three daughters, Betty Watts and husband Jim of Leesville, La., Beverly Hurst of Thayer and Sally Sarno and husband Ben of Garden Grove, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Ella Trent of Thayer; 10 grandchildren, Craig Linson and wife Marci of Blue Eye, Mo., Kyle Linson of Memphis, Tenn., Barbara Thomas of Hamilton, Ohio, Sally White and husband Marvin of DeRidder, La., Becky Westlake and husband Cody of Leesville, La., Jeff Hurst and wife Dusty of East Peoria, Ill., Jennie Hicks and husband Richard of Evans, La., Dev Torres and wife Michelle of Orange, Calif., Michael Sarno and wife Cecilia of Garden Grove, Calif., and Lin Sarno of Grain Valley, Mo.; twenty-six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; a special person he referred to as his adopted daughter, Sharon Hedden and husband Marvin of Thayer; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bob and Mary Burns of Little Rock.

Linson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Tressa; five brothers, George, Marion, Jesse, Fred and Ross Linson; one infant brother, John Linson; three sisters, Molly Phipps, Ellen Linson and Bessie Brazeal; his stepmother, Susan Linson, one son-in-law, Bobby Hurst; one great-grandson, Christopher Simmons; and two grandsons-in-law, Kyle Simmons and Dave Thomas.

The funeral services were held on July 12 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Walker Cemetery with Bill Bales officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.

Pallbearers were Craig Linson, Kyle Linson, Lin Sarno, Kennis Smith, Dev Torres, and Kevin Hedden.

Honorary pallbearers were Frank Linson, Carl Linson, Don Linson, Lonnie Linson, Kenny Linson, Marvin Hedden, Tom Forschler and Travis Callahan.
