Money was the talk of the regular meeting of the Fulton County Quorum Court Oct. 15.
Fulton County JPs gathered for an early 6 p.m. meeting with Fulton County Judge Charles Willett to discuss the county's 2008 budget.
After much deliberation the 2008 county budget was settled at $1,866,780.
Throughout an almost three hour meeting, the court was able to slice over $25,000 off the originally proposed budget.
The greatest bulk was taken from the sheriff's department which requested an extra $50,000 more than had been budgeted in 2007.
Fulton County Sheriff Walter Dillinger said part of that increase was due to general cost of living increases such as grocery expenses and the jail's phone bill.
Dillinger said the sheriff's department was also in need of a new vehicle. He said one of the deputy's patrol cars had over 170,000 miles and needed to be replaced at the start of the new year.
