Ruby A. Wilson, 87, of Niles, Mich., formerly of Dowagiac, Mich., was born Feb. 15, 1918, near Center, Ark., the daughter of John Henry and Edith Ellen Furnace Mann. She died at West Woods of Niles Nursing Home July 9, 2005.

In 1938 she was united in marriage to George Alexander Wilson in Arkansas. Ruby was a homemaker who loved being a mother and a grandmother. She was an excellent cook. She was an accomplished seamstress and was the caretaker of her family. She tended to relatives when they were ill and was always concerned for everyone's well being.

She was a member of Calvary Bible Church in Dowagiac.

Her family includes her stepsons -- Hubert, and his wife, Eulla Wilson, and Hebert Wilson, both of Dowagiac; Brian and his wife, Zelma Wilson of Thayer, Mo.; J.C. Wilson of Dowagiac, and W.A. Wilson of Conroe, Texas; her children -- John and his wife, Esther Wilson of Dowagiac, Pearl and her husband, George Lovell of Rockford, Mich.; Mary and her husband, Larry Tinkey of Marshall, Mich., Lorene Giles of Naples, Fla., and Louise and her husband, Steve Coffey of Dowagiac; 31 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several step-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her stepson, George Wilson Jr.,; two daughters -- Pauline and Gladys Mae; and one granddaughter.

Her funeral service was held at Calvary Bible Church July 14 with Rev. Robe Vickroy leading the service. Arrangements were under the direction of Groner Funeral Home.
