Robert Yeager, 58, now of Pineville came to Arkansas from New Jersey where he was convicted for kidnapping and raping adult females, Lawrence said. He said Yeager gained compliance by threatening the women with knives, tire tools or screwdrivers. While all details are not clear, it is known that he stopped his victims while they were in their vehicles, Lawrence said.
Yeager recently moved to Highway 177 in Pineville, near the Baxter County Line, Lawrence said.
"Although the assessment to determine the risk level of Yeager has not been made by the Arkansas Department of Correction, the Izard County Sheriff's Department believes past behavior warrants notification action in order to better protect the members of the community," Lawrence said.
Yeager is a white male with blonde hair. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 240 pounds.
The Izard County Sheriff's Department has no legal authority to determine where a sex offender lives. Unless court-ordered restrictions exist, the offender is free to live wherever he chooses. According to Arkansas law the information provided cannot be used to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders. According to the Department of Correction, citizen abuse will not be tolerated and such abuse could potentially lead to the end of law enforcement's ability to provide community notification.
