Nominations being accepted

Thursday, September 8, 2005

The Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame is accepting nominees for induction into the class of 2005. Created 18 years ago, the hall honors Arkansans who are, or have been, pioneers in the farming industry.

"It is our intention to seek out and recognize those individuals who have made a profound impact on Arkansas agriculture, and each year we solicit the assistance of Arkansas residents to help us in this effort," says Cal McCastlain, chairman of the Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame.

An exhibit honoring inductees is located at the Farm Bureau Center in Little Rock.

"Agriculture is Arkansas' number one industry, responsible for almost 25 percent of the state's annual economic output," said Paul Harvel, chamber president. "We want to honor worthy individuals who have played meaningful roles in advancing Arkansas agriculture and improving the quality of life for rural Arkansans. Paying tribute to those who have dedicated their lives to agriculture is worthwhile and significant."

The nomination deadline is Oct. 14. Additional information and nomination forms are available at 501-228-1298 or by e-mail: AgHallofFame@arfb.com.

Arkansas Farm Bureau is a nonprofit, private advocacy organization of more than 235,000 Arkansas families throughout the state working to improve farm and rural life.
