John L. Schuler, 88, of Cherokee Village, Ark., died Aug. 30, 2005, at his home.
He was born Jan. 8, 1917, at South Beloit, Ill., the son of Thomas Joseph and Catherine Bridgett (Quinllin) Schuler.
He was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran, having served during World War II. He worked for both Skill Corporation and OEA Inc., enjoyed golfing, square dancing and was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include one son, Michael John Schuler of Champaign, Ill.; one daughter, Linda Jeanne Smollen of Cherokee Village; two granddaughters -- Sat Mitra Khalsa of New Mexico and Kuai Schuler of Champaign, Ill.; two grandsons -- Khanda Schuler and Tai Schuler of Champaign; three step-grandsons -- Alan Smollen of Japan, Robin Smollen and Paul Smollen, both of Missouri; two step-granddaughters -- Sara Tinker of Tennessee and Lynne Alpers of Michigan; one great-grandson; 11 step-great-great grandchildren; three nephews, Tom Olsen of Wisconsin, Peter William Schuler of Wisconsin, and William Mikulski of Illinois.; seven nieces -- Cathy Manley of Denver, Colo., June Koltfeldt of Ohio, Janet Kling and Diane Corrado, both of Illinois, Nancy Anderson of Wisconsin, Lori Brink of Tennessee and Bev Kotel of Florida; and host of other relatives and friends.
A private memorial services will be held at a later date with funeral arrangements under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cherokee Village Junior Golf Association, c/o David Webb at South Golf Course in Cherokee Village.
