James Earl Whiteside

James Earl Corrin Whiteside was born June 23, 1943, in Delaplaine, Ark., the son of Bill Whiteside and Ethel Carter. He died Dec. 16, 2007, at his home near Mammoth Spring, Ark., at the age of 64.

He was united in marriage July 22, 1972, at Hardy, Ark., to Velma Rogers. Jim was a loyal and valued employee of the Wallace Owens Grocery Store for over 31 years. He was an active member of the Midway Pentecostal Church in Thayer, a devoted and caring husband, father and grandfather and will be truly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by: his wife, Velma Whiteside of the family home near Mammoth Spring; two sons, Shannon Whiteside of Mammoth Spring and Jody Whiteside and wife, April of Nixa, Mo.; three grandchildren, Caitlyn Whiteside, Devin Whiteside and ?Jocelyn Whiteside; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his father, Bill Whiteside; his step-mother, Clara Belle Whiteside Waits; three sisters, Linda, Rebecca and Judy Whiteside; and one infant brother.

Funeral services were held Dec. 19 at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer. Burial followed in the Field Creek Cemetery near Mammoth Spring with arrangements by Carter Funeral Home of Thayer.
