Maxene and Daryl Mayenschein will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary June 4. They were married June 4, 1936, in West Lima, Wis. Darryl worked 41 years at Abott Laboratories and Maxene the last 11 years. They both retired in December 1972. They built a home on the lake near Manitorvish Waters, Wis., and lived there 10 years then moved to Cherokee Village.
They had three sons and one daughter. They lost their only daughter, Darlene, at the age of 25, leaving a boy and girl. The three sons are Karl (oldest) and wife, Beverly, of Tooest, Va., Larry and wife, Dolly, of Fox Lake, Ill., and Allan at home. They have seven great-grandchildren living.
Darryl was a bowler. They square danced and sang with the Cherobelles and sang in the choir. Maxene played piano and organ for church in Manitorvish Waters.
Maxene has received a dozen roses on each anniversary, which makes 70 dozen. They will be in church June 4. They would love to receive anniversary cards.
