Damon Theo Jones, 80, of Cherokee Village died May 11, 2006, at Saint Francis Hospital in Memphis. He was born Sept. 10, 1925, at Melbourne the son of Sim and Francis Elizabeth Jackson Jones. He was retired from Con Agra Foods in Batesville and a member of the Pioneer Free Will Baptist Church at Ash Flat.
Survivors include his wife, Ola Mae Jones of the home; two daughters, Pamela Montgomery and Patricia Robertson, both of Jonesboro; six grandchildren, Jonathan Martin of Trumann, Stephanie Martin, Lonnie Robertson and Cody Robertson of Jonesboro, Christy Coleman of Poughkeepsie and Damon Jones of Batesville; eight-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gary Damon Jones; three brothers, Herbert Jones, Johnny Jones and Carl Jones; one sister, Lula Wright; and one great-granddaughter, Danyell Emma Rose Coleman.
The funeral services were held May 15 at the Pioneer Freewill Baptist Church in Ash Flat with Bro. Lawrence Dacus officiating. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery at Highland, with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.
Pallbearers were Dan Bubish, Dean McWilliams, Larry Ware, Leamon Moore, Clyde Baskins and Lloyd Martin.
