Members of the Southwest Missouri State-West Plains (SMS-WP) Grizzly basketball team will once again participate at the Kids Day America celebration Sept. 10 at the West Plains Soccer Fields.
Grizzly Head Coach Brian Ostermann said the players will be at the fields, located on south U.S. 63 just past the Air Evac Lifeteam building, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to visit with area youngsters, sign autographs and man the dunking booth.
"This is a very worthwhile project the West Plains Chiropractic Association is sponsoring, and we're honored we can be a part of it again this year," Ostermann said. "We'd like to encourage everyone to come out and join the fun -- and dunk a Grizzly!"
The nationwide event, which is being held for the second time in West Plains this year, is designed to celebrate children by providing a variety of fun activities while offering children and parents the opportunity to learn about natural health care, according to information about the event from the West Plains Chiropractic Association. Among the services that will be offered are free scoliosis screenings, organizers said.
