Vernita (Carter) Norris, 78, of Poughkeepsie, Ark., died Oct. 21, 2007, at her home. She was born on Sept. 28, 1929, at Evening Shade, Ark., the daughter of Clyde and Flava (Haley) Carter.
She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of the Evening Shade United Methodist Church.
She was also a member of the Poughkeepsie Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include: her husband, T.J. Norris of the home; one daughter, Patti Conroy of Tonganoxie, Kan.; two brothers, Raybourne Carter of Batesville and Russell Carter of Evening Shade; three grandchildren, Tammy Bartels and Michelle Conroy both of Tonganoxie, Kan., and Bobby Conroy of Leavenworth, Kan.; five great-grandchildren, Alexandria Bartels, P.J. Conroy and William Bartels all of Tonganoxie, Kan.; Bobby Conroy and Mikey Conroy both of Leavenworth, Kan.; several nieces; nepews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The funeral services were held Oct. 24 at the Evening Shade United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Morris officiating.
Burial followed in the Spotts Cemetery located at Poughkeepsie, Ark.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Pallbearers were Tommy Morgan, Marty Morgan, Sheila Morgan, Danny Denton, Dee Denton and Dusty Denton.
