Edna Leola Stroupe, of Viola, Ark., daughter of the late E.L. Downing and Lida Watson Downing, was born May 8, 1917, in Milan, Tenn. She died Oct. 21, 2007, at her home in Viola at the age of 90.
She was united in marriage to John Pence Stroupe in 1934, in Memphis, Tenn. He preceded her in death and in the 1980s she married Houston Isom. She was a mother and a homemaker and attended church at the Viola Assembly of ?God.
Survivors include: her children, Robert Stroupe and wife Bobbie Jean of Reno, Nev., Betty ?Jo Brewer-Parsley and husband Paul of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Martha Hall and husband Jerry of Viola, Pamela Nesmith of Texas and Bobbi Jo?Hart and husband Gerald of Mansfield, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a half-brother, Ernie Downing of Reelfoot Lake, Tenn.; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: both husbands; a son, Ernest Ford Stroupe; an adopted son, Robert Lee Stroupe; a brother, Robert Downing; a sister, Virgie Hopper-Hall; a granddaughter, Tyna Renee Brewer; and her parents.
Funeral services were held Oct. 23 at the Viola Assembly of God church with burial following in the Pleasant View Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Cox-Blevins Funeral Home.
