Curtises celebrate golden anniversary

Johnny and Louise Curtis celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their family July 17. Johnny Curtis and Louise Mahan were married at her parents' home on July 17, 1955, with B.F. Butler officiating.

Mr. Curtis worked for 37 years for the Arkansas Forestry Commission as a forest ranger. He retired May 30, 2002. They also farmed and operated their family owned building stone business, which they both retired from May 30, 2002. They are active members of the Maxville Missionary Baptist Church where he serves as a deacon.

They have four children living. Their youngest daughter, Carla, died at birth. Their oldest son, Ronald Curtis, and his wife, Cathy, and their family live near Cave City. Their youngest daughter, Loretta Barnes, and her husband, Mike and their family live near Cave City. Their youngest son, Scotty Curtis, and his wife, Julia, and their family live near Sidney. Their oldest daughter, Linda Cooke, and her husband, George, and their family live near Hinesville, Ga.

They have 12 grandchildren -- Amanda Jean Pritchard of Hinesville, Ga., Christopher and Nicole Barnes and Christy and Cassie Curtis of Cave City, Jonathan Ohata and Leona Beauchamp of Hinesville, Ga., Vernon Curtis, U.S. Marines of Oklahoma, April Pares of Oklahoma, Joshua and Joseph Curtis of Sidney and Amanda Lynn Kelley of Cave City.

They also have four great-grandchildren -- Madlin Star Pritchard and Gracey Pritchard of Hinesville, Ga., Stacey Pares of Oklahoma and Kimberly Williams of Cave City.
