Scramble to benefit medical education, endowment fund

The Ozarks Medical Center Foundation will host a golf tournament Sept. 9 at the West Plains Country Club.

The event is an 18-hole, four-person scramble with a shotgun start scheduled for 9 a.m., said Robin Morgan, OMC Foundation director.

"For a $175 registration fee, participants will receive a $50 Callaway gift card, continental breakfast, lunch and admissions to a pairings party," said Morgan.

The pairings party will be at 6 p.m. Sept. 8 at the West Plains Country Club.

The pairings party includes a prime rib dinner, entertainment, a silent auction, cash bar, hole assignments and distribution of player gifts. Non-golfing guests are welcome to attend the pairings party for $25 each, and also will be entered in contests.

Tournament sponsors to date include Ozarks Radio Network, RKL Construction Co., Air Evac EMS, Cardinal Health, Visionary Imaging, Fujifilm Medical Systems Inc., CapTech Funding Corp., Stewart-Morrison RediMix, Great Rivers Distributing Co., MSI Healthcare Consulting, Gaskin Hill Norcross (GHN) Architects Engineers and AXIO Technologies Inc.

Prizes will be awarded in three flights with first place receiving a $300 Callaway gift card. Second place will receive $200 and third place will get a $100 Callaway gift card.

"There will be contests for the two longest putts (men and women); the two straightest drives (men and women) and two longest drives (men and women)," said Jonathan Bergman, tournament chairman.

There also will be a contest and prizes for the four closest-to-pin shots, along with two hole-in-one prizes of a sport utility vehicle from South Central Golf Equipment and a 2006 Lowe 22-foot deckboat, motor and trailer, valued at $27,000.

Tournament proceeds will go to support medical education and the OMC Foundation Endowment, said Morgan.
