Peyton Taylor of Batesville took his #01 modified to Victory Lane at the 14th annual Show-Me Championship, sponsored by Dirt Works Race Cars, Aug. 5 at West Plains Motor Speedway.
Driving like a man on a mission, Taylor qualified into the main event through round two on Aug. 4 when he finished second in that nightly feature event.
Pole sitter Jeremy Payne of Cave City won the number-one starting position by winning the round one qualifier on Aug. 3.
Payne led the first quarter of the 40-lap event while Taylor, who started fifth, had advanced to third as Jared Landers slipped past Payne on lap 11.
Landers led the next five laps as Taylor got set to take the helm on lap 16.
With a lead of several car lengths, Taylor manuvered the 3/8th clay track like a veteran for the remainder of the event, taking top honors along the way.
Only three caution flags slowed the action. On lap eight, Shane Stephens of Arlington, Tenn., and Josh Hughes of West Plains, got together bringing out the yellow and fans found the double-file restart exciting.
On lap 24, Jeff Greene of Paragould initated the second caution, while two laps later, Shawn Walsh of Ash Flat brought out the third and final yellow for the night.
Taylor proudly accepted the $6,500 winner's check and a double set of winner's trophies.
Finishing second was Jared Landers, followed by Jeremy Payne.
Fourth place went to hard charging Wayne Brooks of Bald Knob, who started 17th. Robby Arnold of Paragould finished fifth, and as a past winner of the event, he appeared to be the man to watch after he had won the round three qualifying event earlier in the evening in very strong fashion.
Rounding out the top 10 were Robert Powers of Campbell, Mo., Mike Bowers of North Little Rock, Jesse Stovall of Galena, Jason Hughes of West Plains and Shane Stephens of Arlington, Tenn.
Balance of the field included: Kevin Salter of Batesville, Brandon Smith, of Batesville, Stephen Muilenburg of Sparta, Jeremy Conner of Essex, Mo., Jerry Hoffman of Oronogo, Mo., Carmon Vincent of Moody, Jeff Greene of Paragould, Michael Murphree of Little Rock, Shawn Walsh of Ash Flat, Chuck McGinty of Conway, Chris Piper of West Plains, Jason Hollis of Ethelsville, Ala., Randy Timms of Oklahoma City and Josh Hughes and Bill Adams, both of West Plains.

On Aug. 4 the Cruisers ran as the support class and another first-time winner emerged when Clint Seamans of Imboden won the feature event.
Stan Ellison of West Plains won the Super Stock feature Aug. 5. Ellison is currently leading in the weekly points race, as well.
Carolyn Clark of Conway was the winner of the Show-Me Championship's ultimate souvenir, the autographed helmet. All 25 of the starting drivers autographed it during introductions just before the feature began.
