George Ervin "Pete" Willis, 58, of Henderson, Ark., son of the late George Loyd and Hazel Elizabeth (Walker) Willis, was born Dec. 8, 1947, at Henderson. He died Oct. 8, 2006, at his home.

He worked as an auto mechanic. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and loving father. He was of the Baptist faith. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Survivors include a daughter, Georgina Anne Willis of Cuba, Mo.; a special friend, Marie McAninch of Bakersfield, Mo.; a brother, Loyd Lavern Willis of Gepp; two sisters, Hazel Aleen Helton of Elizabeth; and Lora Lavon Willis of Elizabeth; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a nephew, David Willis; and a brother-in-law, Jack Helton.

The funeral services were held Oct. 11 at the Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with Bro. Van Brown officiating. Interment followed in the Custer Herron Cemetery at Henderson with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem.

Pallbearers were Gary Perryman, Carl Roper, Harvey John Taylor, Dennis Taylor, Kermit Cotter and Clyde Comstock.

Honorary pallbearers were Junior Bentley and Harvey Taylor.

Memorials are preferred to the veteran's association of one's choice.
