OREGON COUNTY -- Filing for county offices and state offices in Missouri up for election in 2006 starts Feb. 28 at 8 a.m.

Local filings are at the county clerk's office in the courthouse at Alton.

Oregon County Clerk Gary Hensley said the filings will run through the end of the business day (5 p.m.) March 28.

Oregon County offices up for election this year are: presiding commissioner, county clerk, county collector, county treasurer, circuit clerk/recorder, prosecuting attorney, associate circuit court judge, court judge for the 37th Circuit, state representative for the 153rd District.

Hensley said Republican and Democratic county committee men and women representing the 15 precincts in Oregon County will also need to file for their respective positions during the month-long filling period.

He said those filing for a county seat will have to pay a $50 filing fee which will go to their respective parties. He said the fee excludes committee men and women.

Primaries in Missouri will be held Aug. 8 and the general election this year is set for Nov. 7.
