Sherman Lee Ables, age 59, of Ash Flat, died Feb. 19, 2006, at Fulton County Hospital in Salem.

He was born April 6, 1946, at Evening Shade the son of the late Will Evans and Mary Marie Johnson Ables.

He was the district superintendent for the Ash Flat district of North Arkansas Electric Cooperative, a reserve deputy for Sharp County for 16 years, a member of the Sharp County Mounted Search and Rescue, a member of Gee and Haw Saddle Club of Fulton County. He attend- ed Ash Flat Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Vickie Sue Ables of the home; one son, Braden Ables of Ash Flat; one daughter, LaTonya Austin of El Paso; one brother, John Ables of Cave City; two sisters, Alma Whited of Bosier City, La.; and Geraldine Kunkel of Evening Shade; five grandchildren, Kaylee Ables of Melbourne, Kaylen Ables and Blair Ables, both of Ash Flat, Kinley Austin and Hadley Austin, both of El Paso; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother, J.W.C. Ables; one sister, Beatrice Ables; five half-brothers; and seven half-sisters.

Funeral services were held Feb. 22 at the Evening Shade School Gymnasium with Keith Gregson and Jack Richardson officiating.

Burial followed in the Spotts Cemetery at Poughkeepsie, with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.

Pallbearers were Tommy Morgan, Dowell Thomas, Les Lambert, Howard Fulgham, Danny Cruse, Charles Cooper, Billy Qualls and James Kerley.

Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Ash Flat District, North Arkansas Electric Co-op.
