Thursday, November 3, 2005

Sherman Douglas Carroll, a graduate of the Thayer High School (class of 1977), recently finished a contract with DynCorp. For the past year and a half he has served as a sniper guarding President Hamid Karzai in Kabul, Afghanistan. He has also guarded American dignitaries visiting in Afghanistan such as Vice President and Mrs. Dick Cheney, First Lady Laura Bush, and Secretary of State Condaleeza Rice.

He has just signed another one-year contract and will be serving as security for the U.S. Embassy, visiting ambassadors and other dignitaries, as well as reconstruction crews.

Carroll makes his home in Ozark, Mo., with his wife, Christina, and their two children. He is the son of Sherman and Vanetta Carroll, formerly of Thayer, who now reside in West Plains.
