Two men airlifted to Springfield after being injured
THAYER -- No charges have been filed in an incident in which two people sustained injuries at the Thayer Eagles Club.
Oregon County Sheriff Tim Ward said he answered a call at the Eagles, located just outside the Thayer city limits, at 5:20 p.m. Oct. 25.
Ward said when he entered the establishment he encountered two men with injuries. He said one man was on the floor and another man was leaning against a table. He said stools were all over the floor.
The sheriff said one of the injured men and another man had been in the club earlier in the day and the bartender had asked them to leave because they were drunk. He said they did.
Ward said later in the afternoon a different bartender came on duty. The two men returned to the club and were allowed back inside by the bartender.
Ward said a short time later trouble began and the bartender attempted to remove one or both men from the bar.
The sheriff said he is not clear what happened at this point. He said it is not clear if the men were injured in a scuffle or were injured due to falling from being drunk.
One of the injured men was air lifted to St. John's Hospital in Springfield and the other one was transported to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains.
Ward said the incident is still under investigation.
