Orvel Lloyd Bales, 86, of Zion, Ark., died May 13, 2005 at Pioneer Nursing Home in Melbourne, Ark.
He was born Jan. 8, 1919, to William Tibbs Bales and Florence Alabama Hunt Bales in Knob Creek, Ark.
He was a trucker and grocer.
He was a member of Millcrest Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Elizabeth Story Bales, of Zion, a son, Gary Wayne Bales of Zine, two daughters -- Sharon Kay Cullum of Ash Flat and Shelby Jean Flagel of Benton Harbor, Mich., a sister, Lorene Brown of Black Rock, Ark., seven grandchildren -- Kenneth Flagel, Ronnie Flagel, Darren Flagel, all of Benton Harbor, Jeff Bales of Mary Ester, Fla., Gary Bales Jr. and Michelle Rogers all of Zion and Tina Gibson of Ash Flat, eight great-grandchildren, two step-great- grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Lola Elkins, two brothers -- Lester and Lowell Bales and a grandson, Gregory Bales.
Funeral services were May 17, at Roller-Crouch Chapel in Melbourne with Paul Woodhouse officiating. Burial was in Combs Cemetery in Melbourne with arrangements under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne.
Pallbearers were Kenneth Flagel, Ronnie Flagel, Darren Flagel, Gary Bales Jr., Danny Gibson and Johnny Rogers.
