ACCIDENT: A Missouri man received serious injuries in a two-vehicle accident Feb. 9 five miles south of Mammoth Spring near Big Creek. According to Arkansas State Trooper Kenneth Foley of Troop I, the accident occurred at 9:05 a.m. Foley said a 2000 Volvo tractor-trailer driven by Chad L. Morris, 51, from Holly Springs, Miss., was driving south pulling tandem trailers when the second trailer turned over into the northbound lane. Foley said the trailer struck another tractor trailer, a 1994 Freightliner, headed north, driven by John Milligan, 57, of Linneus, Mo. The Milligan vehicle ran off the road and came to rest down an embankment off the highway. The tractor-trailer driven by Morris traveled another 735 feet before stopping on the southbound shoulder of the highway. Morris was not injured in the accident. Milligan was flown by Air-Evac helicopter to South Cox Hospital in Springfield where he is listed in serious condition. Foley said charges are pending against Morris. Photo/Sisk/Lawrence
