William Weaver (Bill) Young Jr. of Salem, son of the late William Weaver Young Sr., was born April 22, 1919, in DeWitt, Ark.

He died Feb. 10, 2006, at Fulton County Nursing Home in Salem at the age of 86.

He was united in marriage to Bonnie Jean Zachery on Oct. 12, 1940, at Lake City, Ark. To this union 14 children were born.

Young served in the United States Army during World War II. He was employed as a well driller with Jim Majors for many years and in his later years he handled produce.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Salem; his children, Calvin Young of Camp, Coy Young of Ravenden, Wilma Torrence of Chewelah, Wash., Cordlee Heide of Evening Shade, Mary Ann Weatherford of Salesville, Tommy Young of Ravenden, Doris Johnson of Montana, Fairn Young of Salem, Joyce Pittman of Cabot, Ellen Mullins of Highland, Terry Young of Salem, and Clarence Young of Mountain View; 29 grandchildren; many, many great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Orgel Glen and Alvin Lee Young; two grandchildren, Rhonda Bailey and Phillip Young; seven brothers and sisters; and his father and mother.

Services were held on Feb. 14 at Cox Blevins Chapel in Salem with burial following in the Salem Cemetery. Arrange-ments were under the direction of Cox-Blevins Funeral Home of Salem.
