KOSHKONONG -- Heritage Day 2007 will kick-off Sept. 8 at the Koshkonong City Park with the traditional veteran's salute at 10 a.m.
Koshkonong Mayor Bud Adams will welcome festival goers immediately following the salute.
A pet parade is scheduled to begin at 10:45 a.m. Festival organizer Charles Roark said area residents are invited to dress up their favorite pet in their finest, and bring them out to walk, or in some cases run in the pet parade.
State Rep. Mike Dethrow is scheduled to speak following the parade.
Entertainment will start at the park gazebo at 11 a.m. Some of the groups featured include: Killin Time, Dean Vonallmen, Carl Trantham and Friends and students from Koshkonong School.
The annual Civil War artillery firing is set for 2 p.m.
Other activities planned for the day include: school sponsored booths, the Missouri Department of Conservation information booth, a petting zoo, a chicken chase, antique tractors, blackhills shenanigans, men's wood splitting contest, ladies relay, tug-of-war and a pony pull.
Meals can be purchased at the park during the festival.
