2006 assessment lists for Oregon County have been mailed

Thursday, February 9, 2006

OREGON COUNTY -- Oregon County's 2006 assessment lists have been mailed and are due back to County Assessor Charles Alford's office by March 1.

Alford told The South Missourian News that 5,144 of the forms were mailed.

"If anyone has difficulty filling out their assessment form, they can come in the office, located on the first floor of the courthouse, or call the office at 417-778-7471 and myself or other office personnel will be happy to help," Alford said.

Alford said any Oregon County resident who owns personal property, such as vehicles, livestock, farm equipment or machinery and who did not receive an assessment list should contact his office.

"Also anyone who has moved, changed marital status or no longer owns property in Oregon County as of Jan. 1, 2006, is asked to contact the Assessor's Office so adjustments can be made.

He said penalties for assessment lists returned after May 1 are based on assessed value and range from $10 to $100.

The forms can be returned to Alford's office in person or mailed to: P.O. Box 361, Alton, MO 65606.
