Dr. Paul Enrich Sauer, 75, was born Nov. 12, 1932 in Reading Pa., the son of John L. Sauer and Margretha Becker Sauer. He died Jan. 31, 2008, in Thayer, Mo.,
He was married to Beverly Bales and to this union two children were born. He was later married to Linda Boyd.
He was a medical doctor specializing in Thoracic Surgery. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and later the United States Army earning the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He used his medical knowledge as he served in Kosovo with Medi-cal Unit 313 out of Springfield.
Dr. Sauer was a member of many professional organizations. He enjoyed football and spent years as a team doctor for various high school teams, including the last two years for Thayer's football team. He was a member of South Fremont Free Will Baptist Church in Springfield, Mo.
He is survived by: his wife, Linda of the home in Thayer; three children, Dr. Kimberly Diane Sauer and husband, Barry Hightower of San Diego, Calif., Dr. John L. Sauer and wife, Sheila of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Michelle Miller and husband, Randy of West Plains; ten grandchildren, Chase, Ken-dall, Seth, Lyndsey and Jack Hightower, John Paul Robert Sauer, V, Logan and Paige Birk, Dee Dee and D.J. Miller; three brothers, Dr. John L. Sanders of Los Angeles, Edrich Sauer of Mena, Ark., and Kenneth Sauer of Springdale, Ark.; the mother of his children, Beverly Sauer of Spring-field; several nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Dr. Karl Sauer and Lonnie Sauer.
Services were Feb. 3 in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer. Burial followed in Thayer Cemetery with services under the direction of Carter Funeral Home in Thayer.
