Violet Hill man faces felony theft charges

A Violet Hill resident, Charles E. Smallwood, 47, was arrested Jan. 3 on a felony theft of property warrant from Jackson County. Smallwood was turned over to Jackson County authorities in lieu of $70,000 bond, which was incurred when Smallwood failed to appear to court on a felony warrant, according to Henry Boyce, prosecuting attorney for the 3rd Judicial District.

Smallwood is accused of stealing a travel trailer from a Jackson County company and faces class C felony theft charges

Benjamin Jacob Hines, 23, of Oxford was arrested Jan. 4 on two Izard County warrants, one for failure to appear and the other for violation of Arkansas' hot check law. Hines was also arrested on a failure to appear warrant from Sharp County.

An additional charge of terroristic threatening was made against Hines.

Hines posted bond Jan. 6 in the amount of $1,000 and was released from Izard County Detention Facility.

Larry E. Williams, 41, of Violet Hill was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended/revoked license. He remains on a hold in the Izard County Detention Facility.
