Alfred Herman King, 80, died Jan. 4, 2006, at his home in Mammoth Spring.
He was born Oct. 26, 1925, in Many Islands, Ark., the son of George and Emma Moore King.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy, proudly serving his country during World War II as a first class seaman.
He was a yardmaster for Kansas City Southern Railroad, working a total of 34 years.
He was a member of Thayer Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of Mammoth Spring VFW Post 7831.
Survivors include his wife, Sue, of the home in Mammoth Spring; one daughter, Suzannah Irwin, and husband, Leon, of Mammoth Spring; two granddaughters, Fancy Lee of Black Rock and Elaine Faulkner of Illinois; and two great-grandchildren, Oscar and Katelin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Thurman King and two infant brothers.
Memorial services were held at the Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Thayer Jan. 6 with Father James Reynolds officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Carter Funeral Home Inc.
