James (Jim) William W. Benefield, 82, of Bexar, Ark., retired employee of Cessna Aircraft, died Jan. 18, 2006, at Harris Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
Benefield was born May 20, 1923, in Bauxite, Ark. He was united in marriage to Theresa Johanna Olles on Feb. 10, 1943, in Bigelow, Ark.
He proudly served his country during World War II as a Merchant Marine for three years.
He was a lifelong member of the Masons, Masonic New Viola Lodge 741, an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Presbyterian Church.
After retiring from Cessna Aircraft he and his wife moved to Bexar, Ark., where he raised cattle, pigs, goats, fish and occasionally a little hell.
He was a loving and giving husband, father, grandfather and brother who was loved and admired by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Mary Frances Benefield; sisters, Helen (Billie) Benefield-Merriman, Martha Louise Benefield-O'Rear, and Marie Benefield-Turner; brothers, Harvey Benefield, Harold Benefied and Luther Benefield.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Benefield of Bexar; daughters, Carol Jean Benefield -Hinderliter of Vimy Ridge and Theresa Elaine Benefield of Henderson, Ark.; sisters, Ima Jean Benefield, Luttrel of Basehor, Kan., Frances Benefield-O'Rear of Camdenton, Mo., Kathryn Benefield-Thompson of Little Rock; a brother, Albert Benefield of Bryant, Ark.; grandchildren, Michael Hinderliter, Lisa Stepan James Sanders, Troy Hinderliter, and Marc Benefield, eight great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral services were held Jan. 22 at Viola Baptist Church with Bro. John Hodges officiating. Burial and Graveside services were held Jan. 23 at Butler Cemetery in Vimy Ridge, Ark., with Bro. J. Clyde Chenault officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Ark.
