Traffic stop leads to possession charges

A traffic stop for an expired license plate led to numerous charges for a Pineville man.

Dennis James Gentry, 51, of Pineville was pulled over while driving a van Feb. 17 by Izard County sheriff's deputy Jeff Shehan.

Gentry was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of an instrument of crime (smoking pipes), possession of a counterfeit driver's license, criminal impersonation, driving with a suspended license and operating a motor vehicle without insurance.

According to authorities, Gentry was out of jail on a felony bond for possession of controlled substances -- marijuana and methamphetamine.

Bond has been revoked and Gentry remains in Izard County Detention Facility.
