John Harlin Huett of Elizabeth, Ark., son of the late George E. and Edna Mae Shelton Huett was born Sept. 14, 1918, in Elizabeth.
He died Feb. 18, 2006, at Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, at the age of 87.
He was united in marriage to Ethel McCarty on Feb. 19, 1938, at Elizabeth, Ark., and to this union two children were born.
He was a cattle farmer and was selected the 1968 Fulton County Farm Family of the Year.
He served as a board member of the Viola School District for several years.
He was a member of the Elizabeth Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Huett of the home in Elizabeth; one son, Lawrence Huett and wife, Frances of Forrest City, Ark.; one grandson, Mark Montgomery and wife Carol of Elizabeth; two granddaughters, Lindsay Huett and Meghan Huett of the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Miss.; three great-grandchildren, John Montgomery of Harding University in Searcy, Kristin Montgomery and Micah Montgomery of Elizabeth; one son-in-law, Burnell Mont-gomery and wife, Joann of Elizabeth; one brother, George Huett Jr. and wife, Joyce of Elizabeth; and a sister-in-law, Helen Huett of Viola.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Carolyn Montgomery; two brothers, Troy Huett and Horace Huett; and two sisters, Leodia Guenthner and Maxine Crymes.
The funeral services were held at the Elizabeth Church of Christ Feb. 21 with Dennis McCarty officiating.
Burial followed in the Elizabeth Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Barker Funeral Home of Salem, Ark.
Memorials are preferred to the Elizabeth Cemetery Association or Paragoulda Children's Home.
